Donor Policy
At Tamale Development Trust (TDT), we value every contribution and are committed to using donated funds responsibly, transparently, and in line with our mission to uplift communities—especially women and children—in Tamale and beyond.
1. Purpose of This Policy
This policy outlines how donations are managed, allocated, and reported to ensure transparency and accountability to our supporters.
2. Types of Donations We Accept
We welcome the following forms of contributions:
- Unrestricted Donations – This is a flexible fund which allows the board to decide to apply the fund wherever the need is greatest.
- Restricted Donations – Donors specify a particular project or cause of interest to them example educatiASon, health, care for elderly etc, .
- In-Kind Donations – Physical goods or services that support our operations or projects.
- Other financial instruments– Stocks, Gold Coins, legacies stated in wills etc,
3. Allocation of Funds
We operate with three designated bank accounts to ensure clear and purposeful fund management:
Unrestricted Donations
- 10% – Administrative and operational costs
- 70% – Project implementation and community programs
- 20% – Investment into our Endowment Fund for long-term sustainability
Restricted Donations
- 10% – Operational support
- 90% – Directed towards the specified project or fund
4. Financial Transparency
We are committed to accountability. Donors can expect:
- Regular updates on project impact
- Financial reporting upon request
- Clear use of all restricted donations as designated
Our internal financial practices follow strict guidelines and oversight by our all-women Board of Directors and technical partners.
5. Giving Options
Supporters may contribute through:
- One-time or recurring online donations
- Annual Giving Pledge (AGP)
- Staff Philanthropy Fund (monthly payroll-based donations)
- Corporate partnerships or sponsorships
- Crowdfunding and campaigns via digital platforms
6. Refund Policy
Due to the charitable nature of donations, contributions are generally non-refundable. However, requests may be considered on a case-by-case basis by contacting our team at tamalectgh@gmail.com.
